Our challenge and objectives

Our partner approached us with a project for their client in the automotive industry aimed at improving employee quality and satisfaction. The issue affecting multiple industries – and also troubling our client – was an improperly configured and non-optimized system for employee allocation and rotation across job positions. This led to a loss of interest in certain positions and, in worse cases, employee injuries. All of these factors result in poorer company performance and financial losses.

Specific issues caused by the inadequate system included:

  • Inefficient shift planning

  • Inability to adapt to changes in case of employee absence

  • Rehabilitation costs caused by noisy or dusty working environments

  • Inability to identify the source of a production defect

  • Incorrect distribution of bonuses and allowances for employees

Our solution

Our BRAIN:IT team conducted a thorough workplace analysis and designed and implemented an integrated information system. Our task involved replacing existing algorithms with optimization algorithms, extending the system to meet customer-specific requirements, and ultimately integrating all systems into a single solution.

The system provides employers with real-time information about production employees via a web application. Monitoring is based on existing procedures using employee cards, which are used to identify employee location and activity within production facilities. This also enables monitoring of employee arrivals and departures. In the event of an absence, the system automatically assigns another employee to the required position, ensuring smoother operational flow across the company.

The processed employee monitoring data is highly valuable and, through mathematical modeling, enables the creation of new processes that were not previously possible, such as:

  • Planning employee job rotation

  • Planning work shifts based on employee skills or current production needs

  • Accurate calculation of bonuses, overtime, and premiums

  • Product quality monitoring
