Digitalisation is already touching almost every industry and besides non-traditional projects such as funeral services or healthcare and its internal applications for employees, other projects have also been created. Government projects are always a big challenge and this one was no exception. This time our company BRAIN:IT participated in the development of a website called ViacAkoNick.sk, which belongs to the National Helpline for Children at Risk.
Our customer
Our customer in this project is the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Bratislava. We collaborated with them on a project for the National Helpline for Children at Risk. The National Helpline for Children at Risk is an organization that provides free and anonymous assistance to children in danger. It is a non-stop helpline available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Children and adolescents can speak with professionals who are ready to provide psychological and legal support, as well as general guidance.
The team of experts is very sensitive to any situation a child may find themselves in and always strives to offer appropriate advice, support, and contacts for additional organizations that can help. The National Helpline for Children at Risk is a very important organization that ensures safety and assistance for children and young people in need, and sometimes even for adults. They provide help over the phone, via email, and always free of charge.
Our challenge and goals
The first task was the creation of an administration interface for consultants, enabling secure online communication with clients, conversation archiving, and the recording of client data.
The second activity involved developing a mobile application for clients, allowing them to communicate anonymously and conveniently with consultants anytime and anywhere.
The third step was creating a WordPress website that not only supports anonymous communication with consultants but also provides clear and accessible information about the activities of the National Helpline for Children at Risk.
Our solution
For the consultant:
Consultants have access to an administration interface that allows them to manage multiple chat windows simultaneously. This solution provides an overview of all ongoing conversations and enables efficient monitoring of communication with individual clients. Thanks to this setup, consultants can respond quickly to children’s needs, track the progress of conversations, and store important information for further work.
For the child:
The solution is specially adapted to age groups — one interface for children under 12 and another for children over 12. Users have access to both a web interface and a mobile chat tool that works on all modern iOS and Android devices. Emphasis was placed on safety — children can, if necessary, immediately use the “Quick Exit” button, which instantly ends the chat and deletes its history, ensuring their immediate protection and privacy.
Mobile application
The mobile application is available for all common types of mobile phone and tablet operating systems — both Android and iOS. The interface is intuitive and easy to use, suitable for communication with a consultant. Within the chat, the client can immediately close the application using the “Quick Exit” button, which closes the app and deletes the communication history.
Anonymity is preserved in the mobile application, and users are not required to provide any real personal information.
Website
On the website, clients can access information tailored to their age group, as the site is divided into two categories: up to 12 years old and 12 years and older.
The website also offers the option to communicate through a chat window similar to the mobile application. In case a consultant is not available, clients can leave a message via the contact form.
